Pastoral Council
In response to the call of the Second Vatican Council, our parish established its Pastoral Council twenty five years ago.
The Council, composed of lay people and religious, has four main functions:
- Help the pastor identify the pastoral needs of the parish;
- Help him plan pastoral programs;
- Help him improve pastoral services;
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs and services.
Members of the Pastoral Council are elected to a two-year term by vote of the parish. Also each major organization in the parish appoints a representative to the Council. The Council holds its monthly meeting on the first Wednesday of each month and is open to all members of the parish.

Members of the Pastoral Council are expected to lead or to participate in one of the seven Parish Committees.
Finance Council
The Parish Finance Council assists the pastor in evaluating and formulating the parish’s needs for present and long-range financial support. It assists the pastor in preparing the annual budget of income and expenses, and helps monitor the budget during the fiscal year with quarterly reports.
The Finance Council meets quarterly, and more often as needed.
Members of the Finance Council are appointed by the pastor.
The current president of the Finance council is Kevin O’Connor.
Parish Committees
Charity Begins at Home:
Meet the needs of parishioners and the needs of special groups within the parish at special times. Births, deaths, illnesses, and refugee family needs are examples of issues that this committee will concern itself with.
- Education: School, religious education for youth and adults;
Include the school and behavioral issues on Loyola property as well as the adult and youth educational programs and activities. Religious education alone includes: Children’s Church for three and four year olds, instruction for grades kindergarten through eight, sacramental preparation for the parish and the school, and the Rite of Christian Instruction for Children (RCIC).
- Fellowship:
Coordinate all parish social activities; includes Altar and Rosary Sodality and Men’s Club;
- Fundraising:
This committee also includes the Brady Hall committee as well as undertaking major projects.
- Liturgy:
Involve in planning special liturgies and the liturgical Seasons. This committee provides training for Eucharistic ministers, lectors, servers, ushers and the choirs.
- Outreach:
Serving the needs of those not affiliated with the parish: Christmas baskets, Giving Tree, Lenten Lecture series, Senior Support dinners.
- Physical Plant Preservation and Renovation:
Oversee the maintenance and repair of the church, the rectory, the convent, and the school. It takes responsibility for landscaping, snow removal, and monitoring and ordering maintenance and cleaning supplies. This committee also suggests the needed capital for church improvements.
